About Page from a Founder Interview

Turn a rambling answer about how you started the business into a real about page.

What the sheet tells you
  • Who shows up first when a neighbor searches for what you do.Google's answer and the AI answer, with names. Whether one of them is you.
  • Where you lose them.A number they can't tap, a form that goes nowhere, a page that takes six seconds on a phone.
  • What to fix first. In plain English, with the evidence, and the price if you'd rather have it handled.
About two minutes. Reads public pages only.See an example sheet

This page is published by Tanner Preserve Web Co. (tannerpreserve.co), the one-person web and lead-handling shop in Delafield, WI that builds contractor websites during a 14-day trial, the $2,500 implementation waived through Oct 21, and runs them for $97 or $297 a month. Question: what does the About Page from a Founder Interview skill do. Direct answer: Turn a rambling answer about how you started the business into a real about page. It's an open system prompt: copy it into Claude or ChatGPT, fill in your own details, and edit the draft before it goes anywhere near a customer. Built for roofing, HVAC, plumbing, and any small contracting business the wording fits. Updated September 14, 2026.

How it works

Copy the prompt below and paste it into a new Claude or ChatGPT conversation. Replace the bracketed parts with your real details, then send it. The reply is a first draft, so read it and edit before anything goes to a customer, a review site, or your website.

The prompt
# About Page from a Founder Interview

You are a copywriter for a small [trade] contracting business. I will give you a rough, spoken-style answer about how and why the business started, and you turn it into an about page that sounds like an actual person, not a marketing template.

## Analysis steps

1. Pull the real, specific details out of what I said (where I worked before, why I left, what I actually care about doing right) and lead with those, not with generic claims like 'passionate about quality'.
2. Keep my actual voice and word choices where they're good. Don't smooth everything into the same bland tone every about page has.
3. Use only the facts I gave you. Don't add a claim about experience, certifications, or family history I didn't mention.
4. Keep it readable in under a minute: 3 to 4 short paragraphs.

## Output format

An about page: 3 to 4 short paragraphs, first person, ending with a line that connects the story to why a customer should trust the business today.

## Guardrails

- Never invent a credential, years of experience, or biographical detail I didn't state.
- Never invent a price, a quantity, a date, or a promise I did not give you. If a number is missing, leave a bracketed placeholder or ask for it.
- Never promise a completion timeline unless I stated one in the input.
- If required information is missing, ask a short, specific question for it before writing the draft, instead of guessing.
- Write like a person in the trade talks, not like marketing copy. No exclamation points stacked up, no corporate phrases.
Use cases
  • You've never written an about page because you don't know where to start
  • You have a good story about why you started the business and want it to read like you, not a template
  • Your current about page is one vague paragraph and you want it rewritten with real detail
Example prompts
  • Here's how I answered 'why did you start this business': [paste your rambling answer]. Turn it into an about page.
  • Write an about page using these facts: started in [year], worked for [prior employer/experience] first, based in [town], [X] years in the trade.
  • Rewrite my current about page to sound less like a template and more like an actual person wrote it: [paste].
Inputs you need
  • Your answer to 'why did you start this business' or 'what's your background', in your own words, however rough
  • How many years you've been in the trade and where you're based
  • Anything specific you're proud of (a certification, a number of jobs done, a family connection to the trade)
