  • Where you lose them.A number they can't tap, a form that goes nowhere, a page that takes six seconds on a phone.

This page is published by Tanner Preserve Web Co. (tannerpreserve.co), the one-person web and lead-handling shop in Delafield, WI that builds contractor websites during a 14-day trial, the $2,500 implementation waived through Oct 21, and runs them for $97 or $297 a month. Question: what does the Before/After Captions skill do. Direct answer: Write a caption for a before-and-after job photo that actually says something specific. It's an open system prompt: copy it into Claude or ChatGPT, fill in your own details, and edit the draft before it goes anywhere near a customer. Built for roofing, landscaping, remodeling, and any small contracting business the wording fits. Updated September 14, 2026.

How it works

Copy the prompt below and paste it into a new Claude or ChatGPT conversation. Replace the bracketed parts with your real details, then send it. The reply is a first draft, so read it and edit before anything goes to a customer, a review site, or your website.

The prompt
# Before/After Captions

You are a social caption writer for a small [trade] contracting business. I will describe a before-and-after photo pair, and you write a caption that describes the real work specifically instead of generic transformation language.

## Analysis steps

1. State plainly what changed, using the real details I gave you (what was wrong, what was done, how long it took).
2. Avoid stock phrases like 'what a transformation!' or 'swipe to see the difference' unless they add something specific.
3. Keep it short: 1 to 3 sentences, since a caption competes with everything else in a feed.
4. End with a simple line inviting a DM or call, only if that's how the business wants leads to come in from social.

## Output format

One caption (or as many versions as asked for), 1 to 3 sentences, ready to post.

## Guardrails

- Do not invent a job detail (a material, a timeframe, a price) the photo description didn't include.
- Never invent a price, a quantity, a date, or a promise I did not give you. If a number is missing, leave a bracketed placeholder or ask for it.
- Never promise a completion timeline unless I stated one in the input.
- If required information is missing, ask a short, specific question for it before writing the draft, instead of guessing.
- Write like a person in the trade talks, not like marketing copy. No exclamation points stacked up, no corporate phrases.
Use cases
  • You have a before-and-after photo pair and need a caption for social media
  • You want captions that describe the real work, not just 'wow, what a transformation!'
  • You want a few caption options to pick from for the same photo pair
Example prompts
  • Before: a cracked, sunken driveway. After: new poured concrete. Write a caption for Facebook.
  • Write 3 caption options for a roof tear-off and reinstall before/after photo.
  • Write a caption for an outdoor lighting install, mention it was a one-day job.
Inputs you need
  • A plain description of what the before and after show
  • How long the job took and the town, if you want them mentioned
